Urania Muse of Astronomy Necklace
Urania (yoo·RAY·nee·uh) is the muse of astronomy, presiding over the heavenly bodies that dapple the velvet sky. To the ancients, she was known as the muse of the heavens, which is why her name is derived from the ancient Greek for ‘heavenly.’
Urania is the muse of those who look to the star-flecked sky and feel wonder and awe, those who are unwaveringly curious in the pursuit of knowledge and progress. She inspires all who are connected to the sciences, particularly astronomy and physics.
Her symbols are the globe and compass, both pictured in this handcrafted pendant, featuring an original etching of Urania from 1832.
The trademark Common Era raised molten rim frames the pendant, which is suspended from a finely-woven Italian-made spiga chain.
