We're donating 50% of profits to bushfire relief
By Torie de Jong
I’ve lived in America for almost four years now, but Australia is still my home. Watching my country burn from the other side of the planet has been terrifying and heartbreaking.
Updates flow in from friends and family about the smoke that blankets their homes, their babies that cannot breathe fresh air, and their houses that are at risk or have been lost to the fires.
Half a billion animals are lost, burned alive by the flames. The ones that remain will struggle to find food or shelter in the scorched wasteland. At least 20 people are dead and thousands of homes are destroyed.
Our government is unconcerned and our Prime Minister denies the existence of climate change because it’s politically inconvenient when the coal lobby is your biggest donor.
Many of us feel powerless and struck by despair. But we mustn’t give up our power. We can do something. We can vote in the next election, we can volunteer our time and we can donate our money to the vital services our government refuses to fund.
Common Era was founded to be a company that does good in the world, with a focus on animal welfare. We will be donating 50% of all sales to WIRES Wildlife over the next week, ending January 12.
We also encourage you to give what you can to the following charities:
